PXT Hi-Cap Single-Action Limited .45ACP
http://www.para-usa.com/new/product_pistol.php?id=11
Fired one of these today.. liked the sights on the gun. It is near new. I found the balance good overall, but the slide was ridiculously hard to rack, I guess that is usually the case when wearing in a new gun, but it seemed more pronounced on this 1911. Mag was a bit of a pain to fill, had some sharp edges. Otherwise it shot well and quite accurately when I concentrated on it. |

Try the LDA (light double action).
Either one is a VERY sweet piece, and the LDA is next on my 'gotta have' pistol list.:tee: |

Re: PXT Hi-Cap Single-Action Limited .45ACP
I've also since found out via the Para Ord website that they forge the barrels / and frames, and CNC mill most of the pistol and slide from billet. They do some fancy metal injection molding for some of the smaller bits.
This explains why they're somewhat more costly, and why the pistol is so tight to begin with as the tolerances are very high. I wouldn't mind a Para Ord in 9mm or 38SPL. I find the Para Ord .45 a little hard to get accurate double-taps (even though I pulled one off the other night at around 20 yards), and I consider the .45 not worth it in terms of mag capacity vs a 9mm (I don't buy into the knock-down power thing). I have reasonably sized adult hands and I was struggling to do things like flip safety with thumb, slide release is miles away etc. Slide was ridiculously hard to rack, but I will give it a break, as it is a brand newy and that would no doubt go away after 200 rounds or so. In saying all that, their grand master who competes with Para Ord is amazing with a .45ACP, so I guess you can master anything with massive experience and a custom setup, and Para Ord are commonly found in competition, usually with red-dot sights and compensators etc. etc. so the high accuracy is certainly there. My favourite .45ACP remains the Heckler - Koch Mk.23 mod.0 SOCOM pistol. But then, they cost a bomb... I haven't tried a .45 GLOCK, just a .40 with +P, and that was pretty respectable in terms of recoil and bang-factor, I would go with a .357SIG in a GLOCK anyday I'm sure over the other calibers. |
